The Tortuga Team Kaliningrad Studio appeared in 2014 managed to make an excellent portfolio for her 9 years. Their small and in many ways simple games still attract new players. And among them was my younger brother, who mastered the first Braveland. Looking at his passage, I wanted to go through all the games of the studios, because at one time I had enough Braveland Wizard. And now you can read all my impressions of the games you have.

A long time ago … Braveland: Trilogy
Let’s start with the most important series of the studio. Inspired by the gameplay from King`s Bounty and Heroes of Might and Magic, the developers decided to create their own world with magic and creatures. The visual component of heroes and creatures is similar to the popular series of games in the genre «Tower Defense» – Kingdom Rush. The plot in all three books, but in each of them the heroes fight the villains who are trying to do something bad with the help of ancient artifacts and dark magic. There are also fewer enemies: bandits, sorcerers of goblins, orcs, dead, etc. D. In general, there is something to do.
The global map in all games is a huge field with different points of interest. Visually, this looks like board games in the “Brody” genre, in which the figure walks along the cells. It is here that the visual style of the studio is revealed – these are small and lamp worlds, every corner of which I want to explore. Additionally, the study is increased by the dialogs that reveal the local level of jokes.
Let’s talk about battles. There will be no revelations for knowledgeable players: dividing the fields into hexes; The course of the course depends on the initiative of creatures; the magic of the hero who can turn the outcome of the battle and t. D. But it is worth noting a few interesting things.
Firstly, Almost all creatures have special. skill. For example, in Wizard Ice archers can launch an ice arrow that limits the range of movement, and a Jung from Pirate can shoot with blinding gunpowder, which helps a huge number of enemy shooters.
Secondly, Energy to spells in all three books accumulates in different ways: the fury from the damage received in the first part, in Wizard, mana accumulates with the beginning of each round, and Pirate needs to be caused by causing a damage to the enemy. Some spells are repeated from part to part, but the rest are unique.

Heroes also increase the characteristics of the army, magic and the number of leadership points with which additional creatures can be hired as new levels. If in the first two books, the pumping is similar to the same King`s Bounty and Homm 3, then in Pirate, like homm 4, he himself participates in battles and occupies a slot in the player’s army.
As a result, the Braveland trilogy feels like the same game from childhood that you have been sitting for hours, but you haven’t passed it (well, you understand, yes?). A pleasant visual style, a simple and understandable game process creates an atmosphere of a fairy tale in which the hero will punish the villain and arrange a holiday in honor of the victory.
… in a distant, distant galaxy. Spaceland
After completing the work on the trilogy, the studio again decided to start a new project. This time came the turn of another equally famous series of step -by -step strategies, namely the legendary XCOM (there are also games such as Incubation and Laser Squad among the sources of inspiration, but the author is not so ancient to know about them).
The plot is inspired by the works of one of the main writers of the Golden era of science fiction – Robert E. Highlain. On a snowy planet, an emergency landing of the spacecraft ship occurs. In addition to snow dunes, there is also a small base of the corporation, from which there is a distress signal. Already in the first building the reason is output: the base was filled with aggressive insect -like creatures that kill almost all of the staff. Another day in the life of space rangers.
If you summarize the impressions of the plot – it turned out to be interesting. The characters have unique features and will adhere to them completely, the station itself is fraught with many secrets, some of which need to be sought in special caches with notes, and the dialogs are still full of simple dialogs.
If the plot and its presentation have not changed much, then the gameplay has become a cut above. In general terms, everything is like in XCOM: in the beginning, the heroes walk, then the Prischelles; there is a chance of hitting, and the tasks in missions try not to be repeated. The player controls the detachment of fighters with various specifics:
Jim is a shooter. The fastest fighter in the detachment who can attack twice in a row for a move from his machine gun. As you go to learn how to fight a sword and put mines.
Barrett is an aggressor. Real space cowboy, armed with a shotgun at the ready and grenades. Also holds a bottle of home swill with him, which can excess his injury
Marcus is a tank. Heavy armor and machine gun do not allow it to overcome huge distances, but a small teleporter helps to reduce the distance between the enemy, and the portable shield makes it a beautiful sponge for damage.
Terra – medic and hacker. It has a radial rifle ignoring part of the armor, and a small margin of first-aid kit and cryo-granate.
Torvald is a demolition. Having spent most of his life in mines, the miner skillfully uses grenade launcher and dynamite. Later there are also stimulants that increase the amount of OD per move.
Ortega is a sniper. In addition to shooting from distant distances, Ortega spreads traps and wields a sword well. Like a marcus, she has a personal teleporter.
Gordon (not Freeman) – scientist. A fighter from him is so -so, but he can stun enemies with his blaster with his blaster. Gordon also holds a bag with cartridges and a quantum accelerator, replenishing the supply of OD.
You probably already notice that I said «OD» several times? Yes, here, like in the first two Fallout, the character has several points of actions that he can spend on walking, shooting or using skills. The patrol works as usual, but due to the small size of the locations, it has a operation range and a set angle of direction. The chance of hitting here is much sparing and when shooting in reconciliation the player will always fall. However, if the goal is behind the shelter, then you will not be able to get into it, but you can throw a grenade or dynamite there there.
Opponents also did not disappoint. As in more serious games, they will try to take you in number and fat, and some have impenetrable armor, which is why they need to be bypassed and shot from the back.
